We all want healthy, eye-catching nails and the only way to have that is with proper nail care. The health of our nails is dependant on our overall health. Dry nails can be a sign of dehydration and weak nails can be a sign that we are lacking certain nutrients in our diet. Often our nails are a good indicator of the health of our body. That is not to say that issues with our nails is always a sign of an underlying condition; sometimes it is just an indication that we aren’t caring for them properly.
What does a healthy nail look like?
Nails are made of layers of keratin or protein which is why it is important to have enough protein in our diet. Normal nails should be uniform in color, smooth, and free of dents or other abnormalities. It is normal to have vertical ridges on your nails as everyone develops them. It is also important to care for the cuticles (the skin around your nails) as they contribute to the health of your nails. So how does this connect to nails and beauty?
